Artist News 2014; Exhibitions & Awards 2013 (part II)

Other Art Exhibitions    In 2013 Irina also submitted her art to, and participated in these, exhibitions:
     Irina exhibited five of her plein-air and studio-landscape paintings at the Seaside Gallery in La Conner for the Plein Air of Washington Group show.
     The first week of June, Irina participated in Wet Painting Week with a plein-air group of painter in and around La Conner and Skagit. This activity continued into the evening with a show of wet paintings at the Seaside Gallery.
     Throughout the Spring and early Summer of 2013, Irina exhibited her art at the Vernissage Gallery of Russian Art in Seattle at the Russian Cultural Center. (Now at a new location. See page 1 for data.)

During 2013, Irina’s paintings were accepted by these prestigious Washington state and National artistic organizations (of which she’s a member/signature member) for exhibition:

  • Women Painters of Washington, Fall Members Exhibition at the WPW Gallery, Seattle, WA.
    • Peninsula Art League Annual Open Juried Art Show at the Harbor History Museum, Gig Harbor, WA.
    • Friends of Moran Exhibition at Crow Valley Pottery, Eastsound, WA.
    • The Puget Sound Group of Northwest Artists, 2013 Benefit Auction at the PSGNA Gallery, Seattle, WA.
    • American Women Artists 16th Annual Members Show & National Juried Competition at the Hanna Gallery, Fredericksburg, TX some of Irina’s Portraits; just to exhibit in this show is an honor!
    • Salon International 2013 Exhibition, Greenhouse Gallery, San Antonio, TX
    • National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society, 23rd Best of America Exhibit at the Dunnegan Gallery of Art, Bolivar. MO.

Art Sold    Irina sold several paintings and created work on commission in 2013. Two of these paintings were large:  “Tulips” (landscape 18x24), and “Helen’s Mother’s Violin” (a still-life with flowers 24x30, which she finished on commission). Irina also sold eight smaller paintings in this same time.

Irina’s brilliant and daring plein-air composition of the Port Angeles log yard and log stacker (The Beginning, 16x20 oil painting)  will be used in the 2014 Paint the Peninsula call-for-entries advertising and posters. Keep your eyes open for this ad/poster.

 

OVERVIEW OF 2013:

       2013—Great Year for Irina’s Professional Achievements! 

  • She worked primarily on landscape oil paintings in the winter of 2012 and into spring 2013. In the summer of 2013, Irina worked mostly on plein-air landscapes and cityscapes; she also worked on figurative (models in outdoor environments) oil paintings.
  • During this same period of time, Irina entered and was juried into numerous art exhibitions and competitions, won many awards and honors in juried shows, and sold several paintings. The fall and winter of 2013 was given to an exploration of mixed media. 

 

DETAILS:

Special Interest    In 2013, Irina was invited by international-magazine American Art Collector to publish an article, titled Sights and Scenery, in the July issue. This article described her work as an artist and teacher, and her artistic techniques. Getting an entire page, the article also featured three photos of her well-known landscapes.

Exhibitions & Awards    May 2013, Irina was juried into SPLASH—the Evergreen Association of Fine Arts (EAFA) show for members only. In this show, exhibited at the EAFA Gallery, Irina won the prestigious GAGE award for her oil painting “AmandaLynn” (32x26).
     June 2013, Irina participated in the Juried Gallery at the Edmonds Arts Festival. She won a cash prize for her drawing “Portrait of the Man.”
     August 2013, Irina submitted an oil painting on linen “Conversation” (figures in landscape setting, 16x20) to the Port Townsend 15th Annual Juried Art Show: Expressions Northwest. There were many entries in this large juried show. Irina won a Merit award for this work.
     September 2013, Irina entered the judged plein-air competition PAINT THE PENINSULA, sponsored by the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center. She created three oil paintings to be judged by internationally known plein-air artist Ned Mueller. Two of her paintings were beautiful seascapes. However, it was her brilliant and daring composition of the Port Angeles log yard and log stacker (The Beginning, 16x20 oil painting) for which she won the cash prize. NOTE:  This painting will be used in the 2014 Paint the Peninsula call-for-entries advertising and posters.
     Also in September 2013, Irina had two paintings juried into the First International Juried Exhibition at the Parklane Gallery, Kirkland. NOTE:   Irina was awarded a cash prize for her “Study of Masterpiece” (oil painting, 28x15).
     October 2013, Irina entered two portraits “AmandaLynn” and “Mestizo in Hat” in the prestigious BOLDBRUSH PAINTING competition. She won the honor of being selected in the FAV15% by the show’s jury. This honor also bestowed on Irina the exhibition of these two works (as a featured artist) to international collectors in the Informed Collector [the Fine Art Studio Online (FASO)].
