I did this Mixed Media Painting Demonstration this Thursday on the woman painters only show opening in the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Artists. It was lots of fun. I gessoed a watercolor paper, toned it with oil paint and draw the objects using a wipe-out technique. Oil and nupastel were used for the skin tone, water, rocks and highlights. The choice of subject matter worked well for this technique, because the highlights on the skin nicely contrast the middle and dark values.
